Welcome to the 2019/20 season of Seaford Little Athletics.
Welcome back to our returning families and Little Athletes and a warm welcome to our new athletes and families. We hope this season will be an enjoyable and fun one.
Little Athletics provides an environment to build skills, confidence and make new friendships. Our Centre caters for athletes who enjoy the weekly Centre competition while also offering athletes the opportunity to compete at Region carnivals, State and National Championships in track and field, relays and cross country, either as an individual or as part of a team.
Everyone is welcome to participate. Our Centre offers a full range of events for any age group from 5 years and up. We have a number of mums and dads who compete as open age athletes, and don’t the kids get a kick out of seeing Mum or Dad compete!
Our Centre has all of the equipment required to allow our athletes to compete successfully and safely. Coaching is offered during each week of the season where the focus is on skill development and technique. We are looking at a new structure this year and any parents who can assist with coaching are always welcome and would be greatly appreciated.
We are a volunteer organisation reliant upon everyone making a contribution to ensure our weekly programs operate efficiently. All parents are needed to participate in duties throughout the season. Parents will be encouraged to follow their athlete and assist with events when required. This will give you maximum time to support your child as well as the other athletes. For those not sure of what to do, please ask one of our committee members (or people in fluorescent vests) who will be happy to show you how and where you can assist.
Parents will have a number of opportunities in the season to attend training to better understand some of the technical requirements of officiating – it’s not hard and you may even enjoy it! These opportunities and all other Centre information will be posted on our Facebook pages......speaking of, have you joined our Private Parents and Athletes page yet? We are also on Instagram, so check ou out there as well.
I would like to wish our new and renewing Committee members every success and would like to personally thank them again for making the commitment to assist in the successful operation of our Centre. We always welcome new ideas and seek ways of improving our Centre. If you feel you have a contribution to make please feel free to contact one of the Committee members.
The Centre would always appreciate a new sponsor. Sponsorship assists us to keep our member fees at a reasonable level and to invest in better equipment for our athletes. If you know of any organisation or individual who would like to become involved as a sponsor, please do not hesitate to contact the committee.
Little Athletes - it is all about doing your best. As the sayings go … “Excellence is not being the best; it’s doing your best.” “The principle is competing against yourself. It’s about self-improvement, about being better than you were the day before.”
